Bill Lishman was the inspiration for the 1996 film Fly Away Home based on his 1995 autobiography Father Goose. In the movie, Jeff Daniels essentially plays him, an eccentric inventor; Anna Paquin plays his daughter and they lead a flock of orphaned Canada geese south in ultra-light planes.
