If I were President Barack Obama, this is what I would be saying to the American people.
“When I was inaugurated President in January of 2009 I inherited from the previous Republican administration the following:
A broken banking system
An automobile industry in collapse
Continuing unemployment claims of 6,500,000
Wall Street in complete disarray
Two disastrous wars
Domestic automobile sales of 6,500,000
An unemployment rate of 9.3%
A deep sense of failure in the battle against Al Qaeda
Since my first days in office we have achieved the following:
We reconstituted the banking system to its current strength
We rescued the auto industry and doubled U.S. auto production from 6,500,000 in 2008 to 11,500,000 in 2012
We cut continuing claims from 6,500,000 to 3,254,000
We dropped the unemployment rate from 9.3 to 7.8
We increased non-farm productivity from -.4 to +2.2
We destroyed the soul of Al Qaeda when we killed Osama Bin Laden
We liquidated our participation in the Iraqi war and have plans to end our Afghan involvement in 2014.
I believe my four-year record of economic recovery and continued resolution of our military involvements has earned me the right to complete the job over the next four years.”
